INDIA WITH ITS HIGHEST MEDAL COUNT IN PARALYMPICS IN 2024

2024 Paris Paralympic has been a greater success for India. The
country has sent 84 para-athletes this year. India won over 50 medals at the 2024
Paris Paralympic Games. The country has been participating in the Paralympics from
the year 1968 and is sending athletes from 1984 onwards consistently.
Despite limited resources and less infrastructure, Indian
para-athletes have shown great determination. Before this year, India’s best Paralympics
record has been in Tokyo with 19 medals.
On Wednesday, Sharad Kumar secured silver while Marriyappan
Thangavelu won bronze in Men’s High Jump T63 event. Ajeet Singh and Sundar
Singh Gurjar snatched silver and bronze respectively in F46 javelin throw. Deepthi
Jeevani won the 400m T20 bronze and Avani Lekhara finished standing fifth in
the women’s 50 m rifle 3 positions final after already winning gold.
